APTARE ANNOUNCES STORAGECONSOLE 6.0, SUPPORTS
EMC LEGATO NETWORKER AND VERITAS BACKUP EXEC
Award-winning Software Extends Support For Heterogeneous Backup Environments
CAMPBELL, Calif. – October 30, 2006 – APTARE®,
Inc., a provider of web-based data protection management software, today
announced a new release of its award-winning backup management and reporting
software, APTARE StorageConsole® 6.0. The latest version features
new product enhancements and agentless support for EMC Legato® Networker
and VERITAS Backup Exec backup software.
With support for EMC Legato Networker, APTARE StorageConsole now provides
heterogeneous reporting for the "big three" backup software
products that combined, account for the lion's share of the worldwide
backup software market. APTARE StorageConsole 6.0 provides the same level
of functionality and detailed reporting for EMC Legato Networker as it
does for VERITAS NetBackup and IBM Tivoli® Storage Manager (TSM).
"Regardless of which backup software they use, storage administrators
all suffer from the same problem-a lack of centralized visibility into
their backup environment to diagnose and resolve problems," said
Rick Clark, CEO of APTARE. "Whether it's due to a strategic initiative
or a result of organic growth, many companies find themselves using and
managing backup software from multiple vendors. APTARE StorageConsole
continues to provide a centralized portal of their backup environment
independent of the underlying backup software."
APTARE StorageConsole 6.0 also features agentless support for remote
office backup reporting through VERITAS Backup Exec. Responsibility for
managing branch office backups now falls to the storage administrator
as companies centralize their storage management to reduce costs.
In VERITAS Backup Exec environments, APTARE StorageConsole 6.0 allows
administrators to easily manage their remote office backups plus their
corporate backup environments seamlessly through one centralized web-based
portal.
"Field research continually shows that getting real-time, actionable
insights into remote office data protection has been a huge issue in the
IT world for years, but the stakes are even higher now," said Brad
O'Neill, senior analyst with the Taneja Group. "Today's focus on
broad-based remote site backup consolidation means even more complexity
and touch points for the backup team if they don't invest in a centralized
management framework. Leveraging data protection management tools like
APTARE StorageConsole can remove that complexity and lead to an optimized
backup environment."
APTARE StorageConsole 6.0
APTARE StorageConsole 6.0 includes the same popular features as earlier
versions:
- "Out-of-the-box" interactive dashboard reports that require
little-to-no training to use
- Management of the entire data protection lifecycle including: exposure
analysis, capacity planning, performance optimization, and compliance
reporting.
- A centralized web-based portal that's accessible by all levels of the
organization from the storage administrator up to the CIO
- The most detailed level of reporting available - with web-based drill
down to the file level
- Reporting on disk-based backups and Virtual Tape Libraries (VTLs)
